About Elise

For fourteen years I competed at a high level in gymnastics and pole vault which ended due to back pain. After many years of investigations, the only way that helped to ease the pain was taking part in regular Pilates classes. From there on, I have been passionate about how Pilates can benefit others in day-to-day life, both physically and mentally.

I completed my Level 3 Mat Pilates qualification in 2019 with HFE and have since done further training;

About Pilates

Pilates is designed to strengthen the entire body, with an emphasis on core strength and breathing. It helps to improve general fitness and wellbeing, and prevent injury. Regular classes can help to develop strength, increase flexibility, improve balance, develop body awareness and tone your muscles to name a few. As well as physical benefits, it can help to create a healthier mind, allowing an opportunity to switch off from daily stresses and focus your mind on you and your body, improving mental wellbeing.

As Pilates is a low impact form of exercise, it welcomes all levels of fitness as well as those recovering from injury, subject to clearance from your health professional.

My classes are centred around the main Pilates principles and posture. I encourage my clients to continue to implement these goals beyond our classes and throughout their daily lives.

FAQs

What do I wear?

Comfortable clothing, something you can move in easily and comfortably. Relatively tight fitting so I can check your alignment.

No shoes during the class. Please wear grippy socks or can have bare feet if you're using you own mat. Please wear socks if using my mats for hygiene reasons.

What do I need to take to class?

Please take the following to each class:

- Pilates/yoga mat

Water bottle

- Grippy socks

I provide all equipment including soft balls, blocks and resistance bands. Although all equipment is cleaned after every use, due to hygiene reasons, it is preferred you bring your own equipment especially a mat. If using my bands, I kindly ask you wear socks.

I've never done Pilates before, will the classes be suitable?

Yes absolutely! My classes are tailored to all levels of ability, however I recommend booking an introductory 1-1 class to understand the fundamentals of Pilates.

Are the classes suitable for pregnancy?
Yes, the classes are suitable for all stages of pregnancy, although you must ensure you get clearance from your GP or midwife before booking on.

Please inform me prior to the class if you are pregnant. Although my classes are not pre or post natal specific, I will adjust exercises throughout for you.
